Beyoncé headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2018. Her set celebrated historically Black colleges and universities through marching-band arrangements, majorette-style choreography, large ensembles, and appearances by Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Homecoming is different from Black Is King, which is a 2020 visual album film connected to The Lion King: The Gift. It is also different from Life Is But a Dream, a 2013 documentary centered more broadly on Beyoncé’s life and career. The Homecoming title refers to the show’s educational and cultural themes as well as the concert film itself.
