Darren Aronofsky’s 2014 film portraying Noah and the Ark is titled Noah.
The film stars Russell Crowe as Noah and presents a dramatic interpretation of the Genesis flood story. Jennifer Connelly plays Naameh, Noah’s wife, while Anthony Hopkins portrays Methuselah. The cast also includes Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Douglas Booth.
Noah was directed by Darren Aronofsky and co-written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel. It is not a literal screen adaptation of every biblical detail; it expands the story with original characters, conflicts, visual effects, and themes concerning humanity’s relationship with creation.
The film was released internationally in 2014 and generated controversy in some countries because of its religious subject matter and creative departures from scripture. Its title is simply the central character’s name, which distinguishes it from other biblical epics such as Exodus: Gods and Kings.
