Noah is the 2014 film about Noah's Ark directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film stars Russell Crowe as Noah and presents a dramatic, visually expansive interpretation of the biblical flood story.
The screenplay was written by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel. Its cast also includes Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Anthony Hopkins. The film draws on Genesis while adding fictionalized characters, conflicts, and supernatural elements for a feature-film narrative.
Noah was released theatrically in 2014 and generated controversy in some countries because of its religious subject matter and departures from familiar biblical retellings. It should not be confused with The Bible, a miniseries, or with animated and family comedies that use flood imagery.
