Beyoncé voiced Queen Tara in the 2013 animated film Epic.
Epic is a computer-animated fantasy adventure produced by Blue Sky Studios and released by 20th Century Fox. The story follows a teenager who is magically shrunk and drawn into a hidden forest world where tiny Leafmen defend nature against destructive forces.
Beyoncé’s character, Queen Tara, rules the forest kingdom and is central to the film’s conflict. The voice cast also included Amanda Seyfried, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Christoph Waltz, and Aziz Ansari.
Epic is often overlooked beside Beyoncé’s live-action film roles. She played Deena Jones in Dreamgirls, Etta James in Cadillac Records, and Sharon Charles in Obsessed. Those performances are separate from her voice role as Queen Tara.
