Which 2011 remaster was 343 Industries' Halo debut?

The story behind the answer

The 2011 remaster that marked 343 Industries' Halo debut was Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.

The project revisited Bungie's 2001 Xbox classic for its tenth anniversary. Developed by 343 Industries with Saber Interactive and Certain Affinity, it updated the original campaign with high-definition visuals, improved audio, achievements, Kinect features, and a modernized presentation while retaining the original story and level structure.

Its multiplayer approach sometimes causes confusion. Anniversary's competitive multiplayer used Halo: Reach's engine and included remakes of classic maps, rather than simply reproducing the original Xbox multiplayer technology. The campaign, meanwhile, allowed players to switch between the anniversary graphics and the original visual presentation during play.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was a remaster, not 343 Industries' first wholly original Halo game. That distinction belongs to Halo 4, released in 2012. 343 later led Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Infinite, while the studio was rebranded as Halo Studios in 2024.
