B’Day is the Beyoncé album whose title refers to her birthday month.
Released in 2006, B’Day was Beyoncé’s second solo studio album. Its title is a stylized combination of “B,” for Beyoncé, and “day,” with the project arriving around her 25th birthday on September 4. The album’s title is therefore a birthday-themed play on her stage name.
The record produced major singles including “Déjà Vu,” featuring Jay-Z, “Irreplaceable,” and “Beautiful Liar,” a duet with Shakira. “Irreplaceable” became one of Beyoncé’s longest-running US chart successes.
B’Day is often confused with the similarly compact title 4, which was released in 2011 and refers to Beyoncé’s favorite number. The two titles have different personal meanings and belong to different periods of her career.
