Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 2003 collaboration that became a US Billboard Hot 100 number one was “Crazy in Love.”
The song served as the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. It combines Beyoncé’s vocal performance with a guest rap from Jay-Z and prominently samples the horn hook from the Chi-Lites’ 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So).” Rich Harrison produced and co-wrote the track with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and others.
“Crazy in Love” spent eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Its energetic brass arrangement and sharply choreographed music video helped establish Beyoncé’s solo identity after years of success with Destiny’s Child.
The track is sometimes confused with “’03 Bonnie & Clyde,” an earlier Beyoncé and Jay-Z single released in 2002. That song was credited to Jay-Z featuring Beyoncé, while “Crazy in Love” was issued as Beyoncé’s lead single featuring Jay-Z.
