Which 2002 film marked Beyoncé’s acting debut in a feature movie?

The story behind the answer

Austin Powers in Goldmember marked Beyoncé’s feature-film acting debut in 2002.

The film is the third installment in the Austin Powers comedy series, following Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and The Spy Who Shagged Me. Beyoncé played Foxxy Cleopatra, an undercover agent and Austin Powers’s ally. The character was styled as a playful parody of 1970s blaxploitation-film heroines.

Beyoncé also contributed the song “Work It Out” to the film’s soundtrack. The song became an early showcase for her solo identity, arriving before her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Austin Powers in Goldmember was directed by Jay Roach and starred Mike Myers in multiple roles.

Beyoncé later appeared in films including The Fighting Temptations, Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, Obsessed, and The Lion King. Dreamgirls is often remembered as her major early movie role, but Austin Powers in Goldmember came first as her feature-film debut.
