Arsenal’s opening-weekend match against Coventry City was played at Emirates Stadium.
The stadium hosted the season opener on Friday 21 August 2026, when Arsenal defeated Coventry City 3–0. Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home ground in Holloway, London, and has been the club’s primary stadium since the move from Highbury in 2006.
The venue was a fitting setting for the opening fixture because Arsenal were the defending champions. Coventry’s visit also created a meeting between the reigning top-flight champions and a newly promoted club beginning life back in the Premier League.
Highbury is the main historical alternative people confuse with Emirates Stadium. Arsenal played at Highbury for most of the 20th century and the early 21st century, but it was no longer the club’s league home for this opening-weekend fixture.
