Where has the PDC World Darts Championship been held since 2008?

The story behind the answer

The PDC World Darts Championship has been held at Alexandra Palace in London since 2008.

Alexandra Palace, often called Ally Pally, became the championship’s venue after the tournament moved from the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex. The first championship staged at Alexandra Palace was the 2008 edition, won by John Part.

The north London venue is a Victorian entertainment and exhibition complex. Its large capacity and distinctive atmosphere helped make the championship one of the most recognizable annual events in professional darts.

The Winter Gardens in Blackpool is a different major darts venue, best known for hosting the World Matchplay. Wembley Arena and the O2 Arena have also hosted major sporting or entertainment events, but they are not the regular Alexandra Palace home of the PDC World Championship.
