Where did Apollo 14 land on the Moon?

The story behind the answer

Apollo 14 landed in the Fra Mauro highlands on the Moon.

The lunar module Antares touched down there on 5 February 1971, carrying commander Alan Shepard and lunar module pilot Edgar Mitchell. The region was selected because its surface materials were thought to have been thrown out by the impact that formed the Imbrium Basin.

Shepard and Mitchell collected rocks and soil during two moonwalks. Shepard also hit two golf balls with a makeshift club, while the astronauts used the hand-pulled Modular Equipment Transporter to carry equipment and samples.

Fra Mauro is sometimes confused with the Ocean of Storms, Apollo 12's landing region, or Hadley–Apennine, Apollo 15's site. The mission's command module pilot, Stuart Roosa, remained in lunar orbit aboard Kitty Hawk.
