The Ark Encounter attraction opened in Williamstown, Kentucky, in 2016.
Ark Encounter is a Christian theme park centered on a large replica of Noah’s Ark. It opened on July 7, 2016, in Grant County, Kentucky. The attraction was developed by Answers in Genesis, the organization also associated with the Creation Museum in nearby Petersburg.
The replica is built according to the dimensions given in Genesis: 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. The park presents exhibits about the Flood and biblical history from a young-Earth creationist perspective, a viewpoint that differs from mainstream scientific interpretations of Earth history and ancient flood traditions.
Ark Encounter is a modern religious and tourist attraction, not an archaeological discovery of the biblical Ark. Its opening date belongs to the history of Noah’s Ark in popular culture rather than to the chronology of Genesis.
