What year was Pixar's first feature film, Toy Story, released?

The story behind the answer

Pixar's first feature film, Toy Story, was released in 1995.

Toy Story premiered at Los Angeles's El Capitan Theatre on November 19, 1995, and opened widely in North America on November 22. Produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures, it was directed by John Lasseter and featured the voices of Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear.

The film grew out of Pixar's success with the 1988 short Tin Toy. Disney initially discussed a television special, but the project expanded into a feature-length production. After an early version was judged too harsh, Pixar rewrote the story around the emotional relationship between toys and the child who owns them.

Toy Story is often remembered simply as Pixar's first movie, but it also made animation history as the first entirely computer-animated feature film. The date is sometimes confused with 1996 because the film opened internationally in several territories during that year, but its original U.S. release was in 1995.
