What year did Jim Morrison die?
Answer
1971
Answer
1971
Jim Morrison died in 1971. The Doors’ singer was found dead in the bathtub of his Paris apartment on July 3, 1971, at the age of 27.
Morrison had moved to Paris earlier that year with his partner, Pamela Courson. He wanted to step away from touring and the intense public scrutiny surrounding The Doors while concentrating on poetry and writing. His death was officially attributed to heart failure, and no autopsy was performed under French law at the time.
The circumstances have fueled decades of speculation, partly because Morrison’s death was announced before many details were publicly known. Nevertheless, the official record places his death in 1971. He was buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery, where his grave became a major destination for music fans.
The date is sometimes confused with 1970, the year of The Doors’ final concert with Morrison, or 1973, when the surviving members finally dissolved the band. After Morrison’s death, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore completed two more albums before ending The Doors.
