Ariana Grande released her album Dangerous Woman in 2016. The album arrived on May 20, 2016, through Republic Records and became her third studio album, following Yours Truly and My Everything.
Grande began developing the project after My Everything was released in 2014. It was initially planned under the title Moonlight, but she changed the album’s name and selected “Dangerous Woman” as its lead single. The finished record presented a more mature pop and R&B direction while also incorporating dance, disco, soul, house, reggae, and electropop elements.
The album included guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Macy Gray, and Future. Its singles included “Dangerous Woman,” “Into You,” “Side to Side,” and “Everyday.” “Side to Side,” featuring Minaj, became the album’s highest-peaking U.S. single.
A neighbouring fact often causes confusion: Dangerous Woman debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 rather than No. 1 in the United States, but it topped the UK Albums Chart and became Grande’s first UK chart-topping album.
