“Ariana Grande served as a coach on season 21 of the American version of The Voice.” She joined the NBC singing competition for its twenty-first season, which premiered in September 2021.
Grande replaced Nick Jonas on the coaching panel and appeared alongside returning coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend. Her appointment was announced in March 2021, making season 21 her first appearance as a Voice coach. Carson Daly continued as the show’s host.
Grande coached artists through the Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts, and live rounds. Her team included Jim & Sasha Allen, Holly Forbes, Ryleigh Plank, Bella DeNapoli, and Vaughn Mugol among the initial contestants. Jim & Sasha Allen became notable as an openly transgender duo who competed on her team.
The season was won by Girl Named Tom, coached by Kelly Clarkson. That victory was significant because the sibling trio became the first group act to win the American edition. Seasons 20 and 22 surrounded Grande’s stint but did not feature her as a coach; she was replaced by other panelists afterward.
