What year did 343 Industries rebrand as Halo Studios?

The story behind the answer

343 Industries rebranded as Halo Studios in 2024.

The change was announced in October 2024 during the Halo World Championship period. Microsoft presented the rebrand as the beginning of a new chapter for the team responsible for the Halo franchise. The new name was intended to put the studio’s role as the steward of Halo more directly at the center of its identity.

The rebrand was announced alongside a broader development shift. Halo Studios said future projects would move toward Unreal Engine 5, replacing the proprietary Slipspace Engine used for Halo Infinite. The studio also showed Project Foundry, an internal research effort exploring how Unreal Engine could support future Halo games.

The change did not mean that Halo became a new franchise or that 343 Industries’ previous games disappeared. It was a change in the name and direction of the development studio. Halo: Campaign Evolved is therefore associated with Halo Studios, while its historical lineage runs through the former 343 Industries and Bungie.
