Twitter’s IPO price was $26 per share when the company began trading publicly in 2013.
Twitter priced its initial public offering at $26 per share on November 6, 2013. The company sold 70 million shares, raising about $1.82 billion before expenses. Its stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange the following day under the symbol TWTR.
Investor demand was strong. Twitter shares opened at $45.10, substantially above the IPO price, and closed their first trading session at $44.90. That opening-day performance gave the company a market value of roughly $25 billion, far above the valuation implied by the offering price.
The IPO price is sometimes confused with Twitter’s opening price or closing price on its first day. Those were different figures: $26 was the price offered to IPO investors, while $45.10 was the first market price after trading began. Twitter later became private after Elon Musk completed his acquisition of the company in 2022.
