What was the Xbox Series S GPU performance in teraflops?

The story behind the answer

The Xbox Series S GPU performance was rated at 4 teraflops.

Microsoft designed the Series S as the smaller, less expensive member of the Xbox Series family. Its custom AMD RDNA 2 graphics processor contains 20 compute units running at 1.565 GHz, producing a quoted performance of 4 teraflops. The Xbox Series X, by comparison, was specified at 12 teraflops.

Teraflops measure floating-point operations per second and provide a rough indicator of graphics-computing capacity. They do not directly determine image quality, frame rate, or game performance, because architecture, memory bandwidth, storage, software optimization, and resolution also matter.

The Series S targets a lower rendering resolution than the Series X, while still supporting features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and fast loading through its custom solid-state drive. Its performance figure is therefore best understood as a specification, not a guaranteed frame rate for every game.
