Answer
The Lion King: The Gift
Answer
The Lion King: The Gift
The album Beyoncé created for The Lion King was titled The Lion King: The Gift. Released on July 19, 2019, it was inspired by Disney’s 2019 photorealistic remake of The Lion King, in which Beyoncé voiced Nala.
The Gift is a companion album rather than the film’s conventional orchestral soundtrack. Beyoncé served as executive producer and brought together artists from Africa and around the world, including Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Shatta Wale, Wizkid, and Tiwa Savage.
The project explores African musical influences alongside contemporary pop, R&B, hip-hop, and Afrobeats. Its lead single, “Spirit,” was included on the album and also featured in the film’s promotional campaign.
The album later inspired Black Is King, a visual album released by Disney+ in 2020. Because the two projects are closely connected, they are often treated as interchangeable, but The Lion King: The Gift is the 2019 audio album and Black Is King is the later visual work.
