The title of Metallica’s 53-track 2021 covers album celebrating The Black Album was The Metallica Blacklist.

The project was released on September 10, 2021, alongside the remastered 30th-anniversary edition of Metallica. It brought together more than 50 artists who recorded interpretations of songs from the album in different styles and genres.

The collection expanded the anniversary celebration beyond a standard reissue. Its contributors included artists from rock, pop, country, electronic, hip-hop, and other musical backgrounds, demonstrating the broad influence of Metallica’s 1991 material.

Profits from The Metallica Blacklist were directed to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and charities selected by participating artists. The release therefore connected the album’s legacy with fundraising as well as reinterpretation.
