Beyoncé’s 2024 album that topped the Billboard 200 with country influences was Cowboy Carter. Released on March 29, 2024, it is her eighth studio album and the second act of a planned three-act project that began with Renaissance.
The album explores country, Americana, rock, folk, blues, and broader American musical traditions. Its songs include “Texas Hold ’Em,” “16 Carriages,” and “Jolene,” a reinterpretation of Dolly Parton’s classic. Guest contributors include Parton, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, Linda Martell, and Post Malone.
Cowboy Carter debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and made Beyoncé the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The album’s title is not simply “Act II”; Act II was the project label used before its official title was announced.
