Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s 2024 album exploring country and Americana influences.
Released on March 29, 2024, Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s eighth studio album and the second act of her planned three-part project. The album uses country, folk, blues, rock, pop, and R&B elements while examining Black contributions to American musical traditions.
Its singles included “Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages.” “Texas Hold ’Em” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and made Beyoncé the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The album also includes guest appearances and reinterpretations that connect its contemporary songs with country history.
The title is sometimes shortened informally, but Cowboy Carter is the official album title. It followed Renaissance and is not the same project as The Gift, Beyoncé’s 2019 soundtrack album associated with The Lion King.
