What was the title of Beyoncé’s 2024 album that explored country music traditions?

Cowboy Carter was the title of Beyoncé’s 2024 album exploring country music traditions.

The album was released on March 29, 2024, as the second act in a planned trilogy that began with Renaissance. Beyoncé described the project as a Beyoncé album rather than a narrowly defined country album, and it draws from country, Americana, folk, blues, rock, pop, and other American traditions.

Cowboy Carter includes “Texas Hold ’Em,” which became Beyoncé’s first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped make her the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The album also features collaborations and reinterpretations connected to country history.

Its title uses “Carter,” Beyoncé’s married surname, while “Cowboy” signals the album’s engagement with Western and country imagery. It is sometimes informally called Act II, but Cowboy Carter is the official album title.
