Beyoncé’s 2022 album and first Renaissance trilogy act was titled Renaissance.
Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, as Beyoncé’s seventh solo studio album. It was presented as the first act of a planned three-part project, later followed by Cowboy Carter as Act II in 2024.
The album draws heavily on dance music, house, disco, funk, and electronic styles. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Other prominent tracks include “Cuff It,” “Alien Superstar,” and “Virgo’s Groove.”
Renaissance was widely praised for highlighting Black and queer musical traditions that shaped club culture. Its release also marked Beyoncé’s return to a conventional album rollout after the surprise-release approach associated with several earlier projects. The album won Best Dance/Electronic Music Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
