What was the title of Beyoncé’s 2020 visual album inspired by The Lion King?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé’s 2020 visual album inspired by The Lion King was titled Black Is King.

Disney+ released Black Is King on July 31, 2020. Beyoncé wrote, directed, and executive-produced the project, which reinterpreted the themes and music associated with The Lion King through a contemporary celebration of Black identity, heritage, fashion, dance, and visual art.

The project grew out of The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé’s companion album for Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King. Songs from that album, including “Already,” “Brown Skin Girl,” and “My Power,” appear in the visual work.

Black Is King is often confused with The Lion King: The Gift because the two projects are closely connected. The Gift is the audio album, while Black Is King is the film-length visual album built around selected songs and newly created imagery. The work also featured appearances by artists including Blue Ivy Carter, Jay-Z, and several African and international performers.
