Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled visual album was titled Beyoncé.
Beyoncé was released without advance notice on December 13, 2013. It appeared as a digital-only iTunes release and contained fourteen songs paired with seventeen music videos. The surprise release changed expectations about how major albums could be announced and marketed.
The project included songs such as “Drunk in Love,” featuring JAY-Z, “Partition,” “Flawless,” and “Pretty Hurts.” Its visual format made the videos part of the album’s core presentation rather than promotional extras released separately.
The album is often called a “visual album,” but its official title is simply Beyoncé. It is also distinct from Beyoncé’s later visual album Lemonade, released in 2016, and from the 2020 film Black Is King, which was inspired by music from The Lion King: The Gift.
