What was the stated length of Noah’s Ark in cubits?

The story behind the answer

Genesis states that Noah’s Ark was 300 cubits long. The same passage gives its width as 50 cubits and its height as 30 cubits.

A cubit was an ancient unit traditionally associated with the length of a forearm, from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger. Its exact value varied by culture and period, so converting 300 cubits into modern metres or feet is necessarily approximate.

Using a common estimate of about 44–52 centimetres per cubit gives a length of roughly 132–156 metres. The biblical proportions produce a long, rectangular vessel rather than the pointed shape often shown in modern illustrations.

These dimensions have also inspired modern replicas, including the Ark Encounter attraction in Kentucky, which uses a 510-foot structure based on a particular cubit conversion. Such replicas illustrate the text’s proportions, but they do not establish the vessel’s historical existence.
