Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored before half-time, giving Everton a lead at the interval. Thierno Barry added the second goal after the break, confirming a clean-sheet victory for the home side.
The result ended Everton’s run of seven consecutive top-flight matches without a win. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, began the season under new manager Pierre Sage, who saw his team lose despite the match being played on Palace’s opening day.
