What was the result of Brighton & Hove Albion versus Aston Villa in the 2026–27 opening round?
Answer
Brighton won 4–0
Brighton & Hove Albion beat Aston Villa 4–0 in the 2026–27 Premier League opening round.
The match took place on Sunday 23 August 2026 at Brighton’s home ground, the American Express Stadium, also known as Falmer Stadium. It was one of the round’s two 14:00 Sunday kick-offs.
The four-goal victory was the biggest home win recorded in the Premier League at the time covered by the season summary. Brighton therefore began the campaign with a substantial goal-difference advantage.
The score should not be confused with Brighton’s later 3–0 victory over Arsenal or Coventry City’s later 0–5 defeat against Brighton. Those were separate fixtures in the same season, not part of the opening round.
