What was the release date of Metallica's third Black Album single, "Nothing Else Matters"?

The story behind the answer

Metallica's third Black Album single, "Nothing Else Matters," was released on April 20, 1992.

The song appeared on Metallica's 1991 self-titled album and was issued as its third single after Enter Sandman and The Unforgiven. It became one of the band's best-known power ballads and a regular part of their live performances.

James Hetfield wrote the song while Metallica was on tour, initially keeping it private because he thought its vulnerable love-song character differed from the band's established image. Lars Ulrich heard it and encouraged its inclusion.

Its release date is often confused with the dates of the album's other singles. The Unforgiven arrived in October 1991, Wherever I May Roam followed in October 1992, and Sad but True was released in February 1993.
