What was the PlayStation Portable's screen size?
Answer
4.3 inches
Answer
4.3 inches
The original PlayStation Portable featured a 4.3-inch widescreen display.
Sony gave the PSP a 16:9 LCD screen with a resolution of 480 by 272 pixels. The widescreen format was unusual for a handheld released in 2004 and helped the device present games, films, and other media in a broad cinematic shape.
The screen was one of the PSP's most recognizable design features. It sat prominently in the center of the handheld, with the directional pad and face buttons positioned on either side. The system also supported video playback from UMD discs and memory cards.
The 4.3-inch figure describes the diagonal measurement, not the screen's width. Later PSP revisions changed the body design and, in the PSP-3000, improved the display, but the standard screen size remained 4.3 inches across the main PSP family.
