The standard PlayStation 2 memory card had a storage capacity of 8 MB.
Sony’s official memory card provided nonvolatile storage for game saves, allowing players to preserve progress after switching off the console. It connected through one of the PlayStation 2’s memory-card slots above the controller ports.
The 8 MB capacity was modest by later standards, but it was sufficient for many save files. Individual games used different amounts of space, so a card could hold numerous saves for some titles but only a few for larger or more complex games.
Third-party cards with larger capacities were widely sold, and some used compression or multiple-page designs. Those products can cause confusion when people remember capacities larger than 8 MB, but 8 MB was the standard official PlayStation 2 memory-card capacity.
