The Xbox One X originally released in 2017. Microsoft launched the high-performance Xbox One family member worldwide on November 7, 2017, after unveiling it under the codename Project Scorpio.
Xbox One X was designed for enhanced versions of selected games, with a substantially more powerful graphics processor than the original Xbox One. It supported 4K rendering targets, high-dynamic-range imagery, and improved performance, while remaining compatible with the Xbox One game library and accessories.
It is distinct from the Xbox One S, which launched in 2016 and focused on a smaller design and media features rather than the same level of graphics performance. Xbox One X was discontinued in 2020 as Microsoft shifted attention to the Xbox Series X and Series S generation.
