What was the original broadcast network for The Powerpuff Girls?
Answer
Cartoon Network
Answer
Cartoon Network
Cartoon Network was the original broadcast network for The Powerpuff Girls.
The original animated series was developed for Cartoon Network and became one of the channel’s defining original programs. Its combination of superhero action, sharp comedy, graphic design, and short story segments fit the network’s early original-animation identity.
The series grew out of Craig McCracken’s earlier student work and a pilot produced for the network’s What a Cartoon! project. After that development path, the regular series premiered on Cartoon Network in 1998.
The property later expanded into a theatrical film, comics, merchandise, an anime adaptation, and a 2016 reboot. Those later releases sometimes cause viewers to associate the franchise with other broadcasters or distributors, but Cartoon Network was the original home of the main television series.
