Twitter named its 2014 annual developer conference Flight.
Flight took place in San Francisco on October 22, 2014. It was designed for software developers building applications and services connected to Twitter’s platform. The event replaced the company’s earlier Chirp conference branding and reflected Twitter’s effort to present a more structured developer strategy.
At Flight, Twitter discussed tools and products including Fabric, a mobile-development platform that bundled services for app developers. The company also highlighted its work on advertising, analytics, and platform access. Twitter had historically attracted developers through its public APIs, but changes to API access had also created tension in the developer community.
Flight should not be confused with Chirp, which was Twitter’s earlier developer conference brand. The distinction matters because both names appear in accounts of Twitter’s developer-relations history, but Flight specifically identifies the 2014 event.
