Moments was Twitter’s 2015 feature for curating important tweets into themed story collections.
Twitter launched Moments in October 2015 as a way to make major conversations easier to follow. Instead of requiring users to search through a rapidly moving timeline, editors selected tweets, images, and videos and arranged them into a narrative package. Topics included breaking news, sports, entertainment, and other widely discussed events.
Moments addressed a problem created by Twitter’s speed: valuable posts could disappear quickly as new material arrived. The feature therefore worked more like a curated news or story page than a normal chronological feed. It is often confused with Lists, which users create to organize accounts, and Bookmarks, which users use to save individual posts privately. Twitter later reduced its editorial investment in Moments, and the feature was ultimately discontinued, but its original role was to turn live conversation into organized stories.
