What was the name of the smaller 2000 redesign of the original PlayStation?

The story behind the answer

The smaller 2000 redesign of the original PlayStation was called PS one.

Sony introduced the PS one in July 2000 as a substantially smaller and lighter version of the original PlayStation hardware. It retained compatibility with the original system’s games while using a redesigned exterior and internal components.

The PS one arrived during the early life of the PlayStation 2, allowing Sony to keep the older platform available at a lower price. An optional LCD screen and car adapter were also produced for the PS one, making it possible to use the console in more portable settings.

The name is written as “PS one,” not “PS One” in Sony’s usual branding. It is also distinct from later slim revisions of the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
