The rare 1985 Kenner Star Wars action figure based on a Return of the Jedi character was Yak Face.
Yak Face is the nickname for Saelt-Marae, an alien seen briefly in Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Return of the Jedi. Kenner produced the figure near the end of its original Star Wars action-figure run.
The figure became especially scarce in the United States because it was not distributed there through the usual retail channels. Examples were sold in some international markets, including Canada, where the figure appeared on a card associated with the Star Wars line.
Yak Face is often discussed with other late-release figures such as Amanaman and Barada. Those characters were also part of the 1985 range, but they are separate figures. The scarcity and unusual distribution of Yak Face helped make it a notable vintage Star Wars collectible.
