The first series of the British version of Dragon's Den was called Series 1.
Series 1 introduced British viewers to the programme's core structure: entrepreneurs entered the den, stated their investment request and faced questioning from a panel of business investors. It began the show's run on BBC Two in 2005.
The original panel included Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe. Adrian Chiles presented the opening series, making it distinct from the later era associated with Evan Davis and Deborah Meaden.
Series numbers can be confused with the year of broadcast or with the numbering used by international versions. The British programme uses a straightforward series sequence, so its launch season is Series 1 rather than a separately titled pilot season or “Series 0.”
