What was the name of the Crew Dragon spacecraft used on SpaceX’s Crew-2 mission?

The story behind the answer

The Crew Dragon spacecraft used on SpaceX’s Crew-2 mission was named Endeavour.

Crew-2 launched on 23 April 2021 aboard a Falcon 9 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The spacecraft carried NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, along with Thomas Pesquet of the European Space Agency and Akihiko Hoshide of Japan.

The name Endeavour honored the Space Shuttle Endeavour, which flew 25 missions between 1992 and 2011. NASA astronaut Bob Behnken, who flew on Crew Dragon’s Demo-2 test mission, had also used the name for the first crewed Dragon spacecraft.

Endeavour’s reuse illustrated the reusable design of Crew Dragon. The vehicle had previously flown the Crew Dragon Demo-2 mission and later supported additional crewed flights. It should not be confused with Endurance, the spacecraft first used for Crew-3, or Resilience, used for Crew-1 and Inspiration4.
