What was the name of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games mascot?
Answer
Someity
Answer
Someity
The mascot of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games was Someity.
Someity was designed with a pink-and-white colour scheme and prominent cherry-blossom motifs, connecting it with Japan’s sakura symbolism. Its name is a play on “someiyoshino,” a famous variety of cherry tree, and the English expression “so mighty.”
Someity was the Paralympic counterpart to Miraitowa, the blue-and-white mascot of the Olympic Games held in Tokyo. The two mascots were presented together as part of Tokyo 2020’s visual identity.
The Games were officially called Tokyo 2020 even though both competitions took place in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic caused a one-year postponement. Someity therefore belongs to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic brand, not to a separately named 2021 Games.
