What was the name of the 1980 Kenner playset based on the Hoth Rebel base?

Kenner’s 1980 Hoth Rebel-base playset was the Hoth Ice Planet Adventure Set.

The set was released to support The Empire Strikes Back merchandise program. Its snowy setting reflected the film’s opening battle on Hoth and provided a backdrop for Kenner’s action figures and vehicles. The product name used “Ice Planet” rather than simply repeating the film’s location name, which is why collectors can sometimes remember it incorrectly.

It belongs to the early wave of Kenner products tied directly to The Empire Strikes Back. Other Hoth merchandise included the Tauntaun, the Wampa and vehicles associated with the Rebel evacuation.

The set should not be confused with later Echo Base or Hoth-themed playsets. Kenner reused locations and themes across several products, but the 1980 product’s documented name is Hoth Ice Planet Adventure Set.
