Hasbro’s 1990s Star Wars toy line was called Power of the Force.
The line is commonly called Power of the Force 2 by collectors because it revived the action-figure market in 1995, after Kenner’s original Star Wars production had ended. It included updated versions of classic trilogy characters, new sculpts, vehicles and playsets. The packaging often emphasized dynamic poses and exaggerated muscular proportions.
The name can be confused with Power of the Jedi, a later range launched around the release of The Phantom Menace era and subsequent films. The Vintage Collection is also a different Hasbro line, designed to reproduce the classic carded presentation.
Power of the Force helped demonstrate that Star Wars action figures still had a large audience nearly two decades after the original trilogy began.
