What was the name of Disney’s first character-themed Build-A-Bear Workshop collaboration?

The story behind the answer

Disney Princess was Disney’s first character-themed Build-A-Bear Workshop collaboration.

The collaboration brought Disney character styling into Build-A-Bear’s interactive plush format, where customers choose a stuffed animal, add a sound or scent and select clothing and accessories. Disney Princess products connected that experience with characters such as Cinderella, Belle and Snow White.

The partnership combined two merchandise approaches: Disney’s globally recognized character licensing and Build-A-Bear’s personalized retail experience. Customers could create a plush gift while also buying costumes and accessories inspired by Disney stories.

Disney has since appeared in many other Build-A-Bear products, including collections connected with animated films and other characters. That later variety can make the original collaboration difficult to identify. The first broad character-themed Disney partnership is associated with the Disney Princess brand rather than a later single-film collection.
