Conan was the name of Conan O’Brien’s TBS late-night show, which premiered in 2010. The deliberately simple title distinguished the program from his earlier NBC series, Late Night and The Tonight Show.
O’Brien moved to TBS after leaving NBC following a brief run as host of The Tonight Show. The TBS program gave him a new home for his monologues, sketches, interviews, and remote comedy pieces, while retaining much of the creative team and comic tone associated with his earlier work.
The title is commonly confused with generic descriptions such as “The Conan O’Brien Show.” That phrase may describe the program informally, but the official title was simply Conan.
The series ran for more than a decade and ended in 2021. O’Brien later continued producing comedy and travel-oriented material, including the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.
