What was the name of Beyoncé’s clothing label founded with her mother in 2004?

The story behind the answer

House of Deréon was the clothing label Beyoncé founded with her mother, Tina Knowles, in 2004. The brand was named after Beyoncé’s maternal grandmother, Agnéz Deréon, whose surname inspired the label’s distinctive spelling.

The company grew from the fashion work Tina Knowles had already done for Destiny’s Child. She designed many of the group’s coordinated stage outfits, helping establish a recognizable visual identity during the group’s most successful years. House of Deréon presented a more broadly marketed fashion line that included contemporary clothing and accessories.

The name is sometimes confused with Ivy Park, the activewear brand Beyoncé later launched in partnership with Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Group in 2016. House of Deréon and Ivy Park were separate labels from different stages of her business career. The House of Deréon brand was discontinued after its retail operations ended.
