Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album that began her three-part project was Renaissance.
Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, as Beyoncé’s seventh solo studio album. It was announced as the first act of a planned three-act project, linking it conceptually with later releases.
The album draws heavily on dance, disco, house, funk, and Black queer club traditions. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008.
Renaissance is sometimes confused with its follow-up, Cowboy Carter, which was released in 2024 and presented as the second act. Renaissance received nine Grammy nominations and won four awards at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
