What was the name of Apollo 12's lunar landing site?

The story behind the answer

Apollo 12 landed in Oceanus Procellarum, the broad lunar plain known as the Ocean of Storms.

The lunar module Intrepid touched down on 19 November 1969, about 370 kilometres from Apollo 11's landing site. Commander Charles “Pete” Conrad and lunar module pilot Alan Bean explored the area, while Richard Gordon orbited above in the command module Yankee Clipper.

Apollo 12 achieved a highly precise landing near the Surveyor 3 spacecraft, an uncrewed probe that had reached the Moon in 1967. The astronauts photographed and collected parts of Surveyor 3 for examination on Earth, providing information about long-term exposure to the lunar environment.

Oceanus Procellarum is not a true ocean; its name reflects historical lunar observing traditions. It is a vast basaltic plain on the Moon's near side and is the largest of the lunar maria by area.
