What was the height of Noah’s Ark according to Genesis?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, Noah’s Ark was 30 cubits high.

Genesis 6:15 gives the ark’s three principal dimensions: 300 cubits in length, 50 cubits in width, and 30 cubits in height. The text uses the ancient cubit, a unit whose exact length varied across cultures and periods. As a result, modern conversions of the ark’s height differ.

Using common estimates of roughly 44 to 52 centimeters per cubit, 30 cubits would be approximately 13 to 16 meters. Those conversions are approximate, while the biblical measurement itself is explicit.

The height should not be confused with the ark’s three decks. Genesis separately describes lower, second, and third levels. Nor does the text state the height of each individual deck; it gives the vessel’s overall height as 30 cubits.
